Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2018 What to Watch

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend marks the completion of the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship.

Before the 2018 season began, there were great expectations that the best clubs would be more competitive. Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes-AMG and Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari frequently switched positions at the top of the Drivers' Championship, and there were several exciting confrontations in the first half.

But halfway through the season, Vettel's form started to falter, and Hamilton went on to win his fifth championship, joining the select few drivers who have won five or more. The other two are Michael Schumacher with seven and Juan Manuel Fangio with five.

The Yas Marina Circuit, which has air-conditioned pit garages and the biggest permanent lighting system in the world, will host the Abu Dhabi race once more.

The spectacle of a twilight race, where the checkered flag is waved at night and the lights become green during the day, is something that fans who are still watching or who are already there may look forward to. As a result, track and air temperatures decrease during the race, which causes the pace to increase throughout the day. This effect is further amplified by decreasing fuel loads.

Hamilton has 383 points in the 2018 Drivers' Championship going into Saturday's qualifying session and Sunday's race. Kimi Räikkönen, who will be driving for Ferrari for the final time, is in third place with 251 points, while Vettel is in second place with 302 points. Mercedes leads the Constructors' Championship with 620 points, followed by Aston Martin Red Bull Racing with 392 and Ferrari with 553. Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas won in Abu Dhabi last year.

In other F1 news, Williams has stated that Robert Kubica, a Polish driver who was injured, will return to the team in 2019. In the upcoming season, the 33-year-old will be Williams' partner alongside British rookie George Russell.
