Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix 2020 What to Watch
With this week's race in Bahrain serving as the third-to-last event of the season, the Formula One season is rapidly coming to an end. We're in for an exciting few weeks as teams and drivers lower down the field compete for ladder positions, even though the Drivers' and Constructors' titles are decided.
Although not at the top of the pack, Turkey produced some very intriguing results as Lewis Hamilton, who started the race sixth on the grid, won another race. Sergio Perez crossed the finish line behind the Brit, taking full advantage of a last-minute error by Charles LeClerc to secure second place.
Sebastian Vettel completed the podium, and his teammate Charles LeClerc came across the line after him.
Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon's Red Bulls finished sixth and seventh, respectively, after both drivers spun out during the race. Carlos Sainz and his McLaren were in fifth place, sandwiched between the two and the Ferraris.
Daniel Ricciardo (tenth), Lance Stroll (ninth), and Landon Norris (eighth) made up the remaining top ten.
F1's favorite circuit architect, Hermann Tilke, created the Bahrain International Circuit, also referred to as the Sakhir Circuit. With more than $150 million invested in the initial construction contracts, the small Kingdom did not cut any corners in building the complex.
Although there are six circuits within the complex, we will concentrate on the Grand Prix track, which is 5.412 kilometers long. To truly challenge the field, the course features three difficult hairpins and fifteen distinct bends.
Mercedes won the race last year, with Hamilton taking first place and Valterri Bottas coming in second. Charles LeClerc, who also won the fastest lap award, completed the podium.
Although a few brief showers are predicted to blow over during Saturday's qualifying sessions, the weather looks to be generally favorable.
