Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023 What to Watch
For the first time since 1982, when the city hosted the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, the Formula 1 World Championship will return to Las Vegas. This weekend's new Las Vegas Grand Prix, which will feature Formula One cars racing down the renowned Strip, promises to be a far more spectacular event than the race that was conducted in the palace's parking lot.
The 2023 season's penultimate event, the Las Vegas Grand Prix, will take place on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, a street circuit. The track at the circuit is 3.85 miles long and has 17 corners, making it the second longest track after Spa-Francorchamps. Fifty laps are planned for the race.
The new Sphere is one of the city's most well-known structures that the circuit features in the background. Since the event is held at night, many of the neon lights in the city will also be visible. Some of the roadway fixtures, especially the manhole covers, are causing problems, though. During a practice session on Thursday, Carlos Sainz of Ferrari damaged his car and ended the session early after he drove over a manhole cover, causing the concrete surround to come away.
The layout of the track includes a brief run from the starting line to the first turn, a tight left-hander, and then a sequence of more flowing corners that lead to the first of two DRS zones and one of two lengthy straights.
As the cars rush down the Strip, including the second DRS zone, the second sector is all about speed. Drivers accelerate out of Turn 9 and make a tight left turn that goes into the second straight. A narrow chicane that leads back to the main straight follows at Turns 14, 15, and 16.
According to simulations, drivers will need to run at full throttle for over 80% of a lap, and their highest speeds—which are predicted to be approximately 212 mph—would rank second only to those at Monza in Italy.

Max Verstappen, the standout driver for Red Bull Racing, has already won the championship, but he hasn't slowed down in the slightest, especially since his record for wins in a season rises with each victory. Prior to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, he has a record total of 17.
Because qualifying and the race are held on Saturday rather than Sunday, the weekend's schedule differs slightly from that of an average Formula One weekend. However, because the race starts late, viewers in Europe will be able to see it early on Sunday morning. As the weekend approaches, Verstappen has 524 points in the 2023 Drivers' Championship. Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes-Benz AMG sits in third place with 226 points, followed by fellow Red Bull driver Sergio Perez in second place with 258 points. Red Bull currently has 782 points in the Constructors' Championship. Ferrari sits in third place with 362 points, followed by Mercedes in second place with 382 points.
