Formula One Dutch Grand Prix 2024 What to Watch

After summer vacation, the 2024 Formula 1 season resumes.
Round 15 of the 2024 Formula One season begins with the Dutch Grand Prix. Alpine stated that Jack Doohan, a reserve driver, will take Esteban Ocon's spot for the 2025 season.
The 2024 Formula 1 World Championship resumes this weekend with round 15, the Dutch Grand Prix, following a three-week summer vacation.

The race is once again held at Circuit Zandvoort, a historic location amidst the dunes of the North Sea coast of the Netherlands.

After more than thirty years, the Dutch Grand Prix made a triumphant comeback to the Formula One calendar in 2021, thanks in part to the challenging conditions at Circuit Zandvoort. The circuit is well-liked because of its dramatic elevation changes and banked turns, which enhance the theater experience.

At just 2.64 miles, it is one of the smallest medium-to-high downforce layouts on the calendar, and because of its narrow and winding shape, overtaking is challenging. This implies that doing well in qualifying is essential.

Power units rest here because the straights aren't very lengthy. Compared to other courses, tires also have it easier because many of the turns are flowing. The C1, C2, and C3, Pirelli's toughest compounds, have been nominated for the race.

Strong onshore winds are one thing to watch out for because they can ruin the cars' handling and fill the track with sand from the nearby dunes, which makes it difficult to get a grip.

The current weather forecast predicts great conditions for the race on Sunday and rain during the qualifying session on Saturday.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing leads the 2024 Drivers' Championship with 277 points heading into the weekend. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is in third place with 177 points, followed by Lando Norris of McLaren in second place with 199 points. With 408 points, Red Bull is in the lead in the Constructors' Championship. Ferrari is in third place with 345 points, followed by McLaren in second place with 366 points.
