The United States Grand Prix is the opening round of an American tripleheader that will take place over the next eight weeks. There will be a sprint race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
Before the qualifying session for the main race on Sunday, the Sprint race is held on Saturday as a stand-alone points race. Following one practice session, it has its own qualifying session on Friday.

For the round, Pirelli has selected its mid-range C2, C3, and C4 tires.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing leads the 2024 Drivers' Championship with 331 points heading into the weekend. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is in third place with 245 points, followed by Lando Norris of McLaren in second place with 279 points. With 516 points, McLaren is in the lead in the Constructors' Championship. Ferrari is in third place with 441 points, followed by Red Bull in second place with 475 points. Verstappen, who drives for Red Bull, was the winner at Austin last year.
Liam Lawson of Red Bull feeder team RB is one driver to keep an eye on this weekend. Lawson took Daniel Ricciardo's place, and if he can outperform Yuki Tsunoda, RB's other driver, for the rest of this season, he may potentially be promoted to Red Bull to take Sergio Perez's place.
